I’m excited and hungry to be making the first, introductory post to our WalkingPalates’ company blog.
We are Food and Travel Professionals offering tasting walking experiences in lovely areas of the cities to help you taste and discover the local identity.
Did you know that Italians do not eat meatballs with spaghetti?
Did you know that the average Italian never heard of Fettuccine Alfredo?
Did you know that bread with aioli is not an appetizer in our country?
Have you ever heard about the incredible variety of food you can find in Italy which is not pasta or pizza?
Do you know what a bar in Italy is?
And did you know that if you want real Italian food you should generally look at places away from the main attractions? This is true most of the time! Our objective is to exploit our network of knowledgeable and passionate people to design and showcase authentic food experiences in iconic areas of cities. We want every stop in our walks to be meaningful!
The aim of our blog is to connect with foodies and food lovers around the world to share stories, anecdotes and little secrets hidden behind local food cultures. This is not about Italian Dolce Vita, it’s about wandering in the Monti district in Rome which is a completely different experience compared to strolling around Porta Ticinese in Milan or Dante square in Naples. Every place you will experience in our walks is carefully selected based on a main theme: people, dishes, tradition, innovation, social gathering… and more!
Our “Blogging Palates” will be an opportunity to share with our friends a series of blogpost about our FoodMasters, the Italian culture of wine, tips to design and plan a great gourmet trip. Also, we will touch topics like what you should look at when ordering food at a restaurant, what can you snack on if I don’t want to sit for two hours in a same place or what can you bring back to friends and family that they won’t be easily find at home?
My name is Daniele Federico and I am delighted to have the privilege to be in contact with you by being editor of this blog and Web Manager at WalkingPalates.
To start, here is a taste preview of one of our FoodMasters, the artisans of local food that make our product so special:
