Celebrating Birthday in Milan
Code:
The vibrant, innovative and dynamic soul of Milan is the most distinctive aspect of the city.

The wide exposure to different culture leads to “contaminations” in the Milanese culinary world. In fact, one of the most popular dish among Milanese people is sushi. However, Milan is also history, traditions and tales. The Walking Birthday Party is a walk through th Ticinese district – one of the oldest area of Milan – where wine bars and restaurants are known for offering the best taditional Milanese and Lombard specialities. The Birthday Stroll begins with toast and an excellent Franciacorta DOCG. The FoodAmbassador – a local guide – explains the history of this wine that will be paired with finger food. Next stop takes place where the old carboneria once stood, today there is a unique place that tells the story of the great Milan through food and wine. In the presence of exposed brick walls – some parts are original from 1800 – a sommelier presents a regional white wine paird with cold cuts and cheeses such as the salva cremasco and the red crust gorgonzola. The food and wine journey towards traditional Milanese recipes goes on with a taste of Risotto alla Milanese and another type of pasta combined with a glass of fine wine. Tradition has it that the special day has to end with a birthday cake and a wish. In one of the historic pastry shop of Milan, you can blow the candles out and cheer with a bottle of sparkling wine.

Daniella was outstanding!! It was like hanging out with an extremely knowledgeable friend. She is a sommelier and it is obvious. We saw the sights, tasted some tasty bites and overall, got to see a whole lot more of Milan than we would have on our own.

This was an excellent tour with multiple and varied opportunities to sample different aspects of the Milan food scene. It was ably led by the very competent and congenial Fabrizio who had a truly lovely manner with people and perfectly achieved the friendliness/professionalism balance. We felt is was good value for money and an ideal way to 'feel' Milan with its mix of history, geography and food culture all rolled into one. Would recommend early in your visit, in the evening, as a kind of orientation experience.

Had a great tour with Sylvia. It was just our small group so it was like having a private tour. It also gave us an opportunity to learn about Italian history and life. Have been on many food tours but this was by far the most intellectual one we have had because we were able to have great discussions. The food was amazing. Highlights for me were the Risotto and the vegetarian Gelato -and I am not a vegetarian. Also, great to get off the beaten path and see other neighborhoods
